With trails navigating stretches of white, sandy beaches, that border crystalline, blue water, horseback riding in Grand Cayman is truly an unforgettable experience.
Several stables and riding schools on island offer beach and sea swim tours and welcome riders of all abilities. Riders are taken out to Barker’s National Park, in West Bay, where you are guided along the picturesque and often deserted shoreline of Barker’s beach. Tours last between 1-2 hours, and all companies on island offer group and private rides. Depending on your ability, riders can enjoy long collected canters or a slower paced trot for those less experienced riders. For those wanting to enjoy the beauty of a beach ride, as well as a cool and refreshing dip in the sea with their horse to complete the tour, companies offer the option for a 'sea swim tour'.
It is recommended that you bring a camera (waterproof for sea rides!), as there will be plenty of opportunities for photos. Don’t forget to ask about off-season discounts and special rates.
Located in West Bay, Spirit of the West takes riders on tours along secluded Barker’s Beach, led by knowledgeable guides with over 40 years of equestrian experience. They operate three tours throughout the day, and offer a selection of tour types – ranging from a classic beach ride, to a moonlit stroll with ride dates dependant on the Full Moon schedule.
Coral Stone Stables, also located in West Bay, offers riders the choice of a peaceful walk along the Barker’s Beach shoreline, or a more daring bareback ride through the warm, clear waters. Horseback riding experiences are also available for parties and celebrations!
