Governor Russell Public Beach
About
Governor Russell Beach is a tranquil and picturesque spot, perfect for a photo opportunity, as you drive the coast road of the Island. A single and robust cabana, which makes for a very pleasant spot to enjoy a picnic lunch, overlooks the ocean and narrow beach, which is inviting and worth a walk. The area is sandy, with not too much debris and there is undergrowth dotted around. If using public transport, there is a bus stop nearby.

Additional Information
The area is a Cayman National Heritage site as it marks the location of the shipwreck of the Iphigenia out of Cardiff, which was stranded on the Bodden Town reefs on 9 April 1874, due to the captain's negligence. While there are no facilities like toilets, the spot is historic, picturesque and has a romantic charm, making it a somewhat secluded and enjoyable location.
