Downtown George Town is where you will find most of the high end jewellery shops as well as a few interesting and unique stores where you can find gifts to take home with you. George Town is quietest on non-cruise ship days (Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays). All downtown shops are closed on Sundays.
You'll find plenty of beauty stores along Cardinall Avenue. Kirk Freeport sells high end brands like Chanel, Clarins, Dior, Guerlain, Lancôme, L'Oréal and Sisley. You'll also find a MAC make-up store and a Victoria's Secret on the same street.
Cameras are duty-free and it is commonly acknowledged that they are cheaper in Cayman than in the US or Europe. Cathy Church’s Photo Centre at Sunset House Hotel, located on South Church Street sell a wide range of digital cameras and accessories including GoPro, Nikon, Olympus, Fujifilm and Pentax along with multiple brands of underwater cameras.
Guy Harvey Gallery & Shoppe sells marine themed clothing. Find both upscale and affordable options at Vertu on Cardinall Avenue or treat yourself with a trip to LXL in Monaco Towers for a bit of luxury shopping.
Infants and children’s clothes and toys can be found at Altantic Kids (345) 943 2296 in Paddington Place, Godfrey Nixon Road. Their sister company, Atlantic, sells inexpensive day and evening clothes for men and women. The Baby Shoppe (345) 949 2229 in Alissta Towers on North Sound Road both have a large selection of infant, baby and children’s supplies.
Other great things to buy are watches, gems, and precious metals as they are duty free and exempt from sales tax. Head downtown and wander around Island Plaza on Harbour Drive, the Jewellery Palace on South Church Street, Kay's Fine Jewelry on Fort Street or one of the many Kirk Freeport stores located on Cardinall Avenue or in Bayshore Mall. Each of these companies offers a wide range of diamonds and other gemstones, as well as top-of-the-line jewellery. With duty free and tax free prices, buying jewellery and watches in Cayman is a smart move.
You can also check out the boutique, family-owned jewellery store, Rocky's Diamond Gallery, which specialises in high-end jewellery. They offer an extensive collection of gemstones that are perfect for life's big events. You can even have a piece of jewellery custom designed and made by their in-house jewellery designers. If you're on the hunt for something with a little more history, head to Artifacts on Harbour Drive and view their extensive collection of beautiful antique items.
Stock up on supplies from Kirk Market supermarket in George Town. You’ll find everything you’d expect to find in an American or British supermarket plus fresh produce, deli counters cheeses and organic goods.
You will find a number of liquor stores in George Town including Blackbeards, Jacques Scott and Tortuga Fine Wines and Spirits, which are open until 10pm.
