Riding a Bike or Scooter in the Cayman Islands
Tips on riding a bike or scooter in Cayman with information on where to rent bikes and scooters and guided bike tours.
Renting a bicycle or scooter in the Cayman Islands offers a convenient and affordable means of transportation. Priced as low as $10 per day, it allows for a budget-friendly and eco-friendly escape. Beyond that, it's just fun!
Bicycle
The flat terrain and good condition of the roads makes getting around by bike easy, although it does get hot.
Cycling around the East End of Grand Cayman is a cyclist's dream! There is amazing scenery as you will get a real feel for the more rustic side of the island.
As well as bicycle tours, Paddle Wheel Adventures offer bicycle rental on a daily or weekly basis with e-bicycles, pedal bikes and road bikes available for you to explore the island in an environmentally-friendly way.
Bike hire in the rest of the Cayman Islands
For casual cycling in the Seven Mile Beach and George Town areas, you can rent bicycles by the hour from Cycle Cayman. They have three stations in Camana Bay, as well as at Regatta Business Park, Dart Park and George Town. Bikes are available on a first come first served basis.
On the Sister Islands, most of the resorts have bicycles which you can borrow to go exploring. You just put them back when you have finished with them. You can also reach out to Active Pursuit Ltd at www.activepursuit.ky.
Scooters, Electric Scooters and Mopeds
Scooters and mopeds can be rented on Grand Cayman and Little Cayman. If driving a scooter, you must wear a helmet. Remember the rules to the road and be extra cautious when changing lanes. It is best to use hand signals in addition to your indicator lights when changing lanes—especially in a rotary.
E-bike and Scooter Regulations
New enforcement measures on 1st March 2026 will require e-bike and scooter users in the Cayman Islands to meet legal standards set out in the Traffic Law.
The regulations have long been in place (but not rigidly enforced until now) and are based on the understanding that e-bikes and scooters operate alongside traditional vehicles and must adhere to the same roadway rules.
The law stipulates that riders must:
-
Be 17 years of age or older
-
Possess a valid Category 0 or Category 2 driver’s licence
-
Have the e-bike or scooter properly registered, licensed and insured
-
Follow all posted traffic controls and road markings
-
Use the devices only in locations where their operation is legally allowed
Scooter Rental
Little Cayman is the perfect place to rent scooters because there is no traffic, the roads are straight, and the speed limit is just 25 mph. You can rent scooters from Scooten! Scooters! for either for a day or your whole stay. They rent quality Yamaha C3 50cc scooters for KYD$40 for a full day (KYD$20) extra for a double ride) which includes a free tank of gas, free souvenir photo and free delivery and pick up anywhere on the Island. You have to be 18 years or older and have a valid driver’s license.
