Noises Off, Cayman Drama Society

NOISES OFF by Michael Frayn, is CD's second performance of 2021 and is generally described as the funniest farce ever written. Even more appropriately, our CDS actors will have to dumb down, because the play is about a second rate theatre company, rehearsing with opening night just a few hours away - and with a cross-country tour of theatres to follow, things could not be worse. Seen from both auditorium and backstage, the action covers all of those things that a director fears – lines are forgotten, props are misplaced, animosities are blossoming between off-stage lovers, and errant sardines are creating pandemonium. Can the cast and crew lift themselves from mediocrity to standing ovation?
