The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla

The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May 2023.

The Service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury and will reflect the Monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.

Their Majesties will arrive at Westminster Abbey in procession from Buckingham Palace, known as ‘The King’s Procession’. 

After the Service, Their Majesties will return to Buckingham Palace in a larger ceremonial procession, known as ‘The Coronation Procession’. Their Majesties will be joined in this procession by other Members of the Royal Family.

At Buckingham Palace, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, accompanied by Members of the Royal Family, will appear on the balcony to conclude the day’s ceremonial events.

Monday 8th May 2023 

The Monday after the Coronation has been declared an official bank holiday in the Cayman Islands.

The Islands will commemorate the Coronation with a special family-focused celebration to be held on Cardinall Avenue, George Town in Grand Cayman on public holiday Monday, May 8 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The event is being hosted by Celebrate Cayman, Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage, and the George Town Revitalisation Initiative.

The ascension of a new monarch is a historic event and the Cayman Islands as a United Kingdom Overseas Territory will honour His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty the Queen Consort in a way that is true to the country’s culture. Fellowship, food as well as music and entertainment will be available for all to enjoy along with a special fireworks display. It will be a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together as we mark this momentous occasion.
