For those looking to avoid the crowds and experience true Caymanian hospitality then look no further than a Caymanian boat operator who will utilise their local knowledge to take you off the beaten track and provide a tour that is full of character and unique experiences.
The captain and crew of these local operators grew up boating around Cayman, learning the coast line from their parents and grandparents and now, having been in the industry for twenty years or more, they have some of the best inside knowledge of Cayman’s waters. They know the reefs like the back of their hand including all the best snorkeling and fishing spots. Their vast knowledge also extends to local history and the curious among us will get some interesting insights and tidbits on Cayman history and life in Cayman today.
A typical itinerary on a tour will include a visit to Stingray City Sandbar, snorkeling at the reef and then a final stop at Starfish Point beach. During conch season (1st November-39th April) your captain will also dive for conch and prepare a ceviche on board so you can try this delicious Caymanian delicacy. Found in beautiful large pink shells, conch is a large edible sea snail that can be eaten raw. Your captain will remove the snail, marinate it for 30 minutes in lemon and lime juice, season with salt and pepper and serve. A real sea-to-table experience!
A tour with a Caymanian operator is a rich and unique experience often not available on larger commercial tours.
