Bioluminescence

The bioluminescence phenomenon appears in only a handful places around the world. At certain times of the moon cycle, you can witness billions of light-emitting organisms that ‘flash’ when they are disturbed. Call Cayman KayaksCayman Sea Elements or Sail Cayman.

Boat Charters

You can enjoy Cayman’s water with a group or private charter. See the Boating page for more information on boat charters and popular itineraries.

Diving

Cayman is internationally recognised as one of the best diving destinations in the world. Visit our Diving section for comprehensive information on the following: shore diving, wreck diving, the Kittiwake, overview of Cayman's dive areas, local dive operators, retail dive shops, dive courses and certifications.

Fishing

Take a private charter or join a group for bottom fishing, bone fishing or deep sea fishing outside the reef or at the 12-Mile Banks. Yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna, mahi mahi (April, May and June), wahoo (November-July) and marlin between 25-60lbs are regularly caught. Most trips depart from the North Sound and the tour operators will pick you up from your hotel or condo. See the Fishing in Cayman page for information on charter and tour operators.

Helmet Diving

For SNUBA and Sea Trek underwater helmet diving tours, call Sea Voyages (345) 814 0188 to reserve your spot for this popular activity.

Mangrove & Bio Bay Kayaking Tours

Exploring the mangroves by kayak or boat is a wonderful experience. Those who dare can even hop into the water and snorkel the mangroves! Learn about the plants that grow there and the animals that use the mangroves as their breeding ground. Look out for birds, fish, anemones, iguanas, jellyfish and even the elusive seahorse. Call Cayman Kayaks (345) 926 4467 or Cayman Sea Elements (345) 936 8687.

Jetovator Rides

Balance on top of a moving hose of water and jet forward at a speed of 25mph with White Sand Watersports Cruise in comfort and dive for short bursts under water for a thrilling experience!

Kiteboarding

Learn to kitesurf and experience the feeling of flying! Experienced instructors at Kitesurf Cayman will show you the ropes in waist deep, calm waters and before long you will be kiting along Barkers Beach. Equipment rental is available for experienced kiters.

Paddleboarding

A great way to explore Cayman’s waters and a fantastic form of exercise. Rent a board or join a tour with Cayman Stand Up Paddle Co. (345) 938 4787. If you’re staying out east contact White Sand Water Sports (345) 938 7263.

Parasailing

Up to three people are attached to a large canopy from the back of a motor boat and hoisted over 300ft into the air. You’ll get spectacular views of Seven Mile Beach. Call Parasailing Professionals (345) 916 2953 for rides.

Sailing

For something a bit different try a hobie cat sail with White Sand Water Sports who are located in East End. Alternatively contact Point Blue Sailing or Sail Cayman and enjoy a gentle sail on the clear blue sea.

Snorkelling Tours

Many operators combine a snorkelling trip to Coral Gardens in the North Sound as part of a swim with the stingrays trip to Stingray City Sandbar. Alternatively, explore new pristine snorkeling sites in the Eastern Districts with Ocean Frontiers and White Sand Water Sports. You could even pack your snorkelling gear and find magical places off the beaten path like the veritable sea aquarium under the Morritt’s dock in East End. Visit our Snorkelling page for other shore-based and beach locations.

Submarines

You can explore under the water without getting wet by taking a tour in a submarine, with Atlantis Submarines.

Surfing

While not renowned as a surf destination, the waters off the Caribbean Club on Seven Mile Beach are great for beginners. South Sound is better for advanced surfers, especially during the winter months if a nor’wester passes through. To rent a surfboard call Waterman.

Swim with the Dolphins

Dolphins are said to have a unique ability to interact with humans. If you would like to swim with the dolphins then call either Dolphin Cove (345) 623 2683 or Dolphin Discovery (345) 769 7946. Both facilities are located in West Bay and offer various packages.

Swim with the Stingrays

Visit our Stingray City page for more information and list of tour operators.

Waverunners/Jetskis Safaris

Take a jetski safari with Action Watersports and cruise across the North Sound to Stingray City Sandbar, stop for some snorkelling and then carry on to Rum Point for lunch. There is even a sunset tour.

Yacht & Motor Boat Charters

You can enjoy Cayman’s water on a more luxurious boat, either with just a skipper or as a full service experience including dinner. See the Boating section for details on what to expect on a boat charter as well as information on itineraries and tour operators.
