FITNESS

If you want to keep up their fitness routines while away from home, there are plenty of options.

 

One of the best forms of exercise are running on the beach or swimming. Locals and visitors run the length of Seven Mile Beach and swim in the ocean for a natural full-body workout. In addition, there are some groups which play pick-up games of volleyball, football and practise yoga and tai chi on the beach.

Horse riding is provided by Spirit of the West and free salsa lessons are held on Tuesday evenings at The Wharf Restaurant. Last, but certainly not least, there is the sea and beach.

 

Seven Mile Beach is perfect for a safe sea swim in calm waters and a beach walk or run.

 

GOLF

Golf is a popular activity for visitors and residents alike. There are two golf courses on-Island, a nine-hole and an 18-hole. At both you can rent clubs, improve your swing with a lesson from the resident pro and take advantage of cheaper twilight rates. You will find the courses are quieter during the week when residents are at work.
 
North Sound Club is the 18-hole course with a driving range and two putting greens. The par-71, 6,605 yard course has a USGA course rating of 73.1. It’s a challenging course with prevailing Caribbean trade winds and water on 15 of the 18 holes. Enjoy the vistas and a cool beverage at the open air bar afterwards.
 
The Ritz-Carlton Golf Course offers nine-holes on the Greg Norman designed golf course. Players are challenged with five long par fours into the Caribbean trade winds. You can also try their indoor golf simulator that precisely measures impact and ball flight pattern. Choose from 80 virtual courses to play.
 
Top Tip - Both golf courses offer cheaper twilight rates, so enjoy a round of golf with a drink in hand as the sun sets.

 

SALT WATER THERAPY

Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, discovered the therapeutic qualities of seawater by noticing the healing effects it had on the injured hands of fishermen.
