You can easily spend a full day on a driving tour of North Side and East End as there is a lot to see. Pick from the list below, depending on how much time you have, what you are interested in, where you are starting from and whether you have kids to entertain.

Learn about “the birthplace of democracy” in the Cayman Islands at this National Historic site. Explore the house and gardens, then watch the 3D presentation in the theatre. (1–1.5 hours).

Visit this old house in Bodden Town and get a taste of how people lived in Cayman in the 1800s. It is open to the public for tours at weekends. (30–45 minutes, by appointment only).

If possible it’s best to visit the gardens in the cooler hours of the day. Definitely worth a visit. Just follow the signs on Frank Sound Road (which cuts across the Island). (1–2 hours)

Lunch Stop

Time to recharge your batteries. Tukka, Kaibo and Eagle Rays Bar & Grill offer great food at reasonable prices with views to die for. Don't forget to stock up on groceries at Chisholm’s Grocery.

Go Swimming and Snorkelling

At any time explore some of the amazing beaches! Drive to Cayman Kai and cool down on the beach at Kaibo or Rum Point. There is nice snorkelling from Rum Point and the clear shallow water is ideal for children. Alternatively drive on to East End and snorkel beneath Mimi’s dock at Morritt’s. It’s very special, especially for the little ones.

For the Snorkelling Enthusiast

Take the road east and enjoy the rugged “Other side of the Island”. Find a deserted seagrass-strewn beach and go exploring or snorkelling. The snorkelling from Cayman Kai Public Beach is also excellent. It is ideally done as a drift snorkel and you will see lots of healthy coral and colourful fish.

A simple and typical Cayman beach experience.

Drive north to Old Man Bay to admire some of the fabulous homes on the beach. Drive to tranquil Kaibo Beach for a refreshing cocktail and snack. Starfish Point is lovely for swimming and as you might expect, you’ll spot lots of starfish in the water.

Wreck of the Ten Sail

Wreck of the 10 Sail

Keep driving past the Reef Resort, past Gun Bay, past Ocean Frontiers and you will find this historic site just east of East End (10 mins).

Come face-to-face with Cayman's wild life, including native animals, plants and the unspoiled natural landscape at Cayman Parrot Sanctuary.

Stop at this historic landmark and climb to the top of the lighthouse. Enjoy the sea views. (15-20 mins).

Continue on and if it’s windy you might admire the water geysers that spray high from the ironshore just west of East End (5mins).

Just a bit further up the road you will see a sign for Lovers Wall. Stop for a quick photograph and admire the spectacular view. (5 mins).

Dining Under the Stars

Dine on the beach nightly at Kaibo or treat yourself to a special meal Upstairs at Kaibo. On full moon nights, celebrate Luna Del Mar with your toes in the sand, or head to Tukka where they put tables on the beach so you can admire the stunning full moon.
