The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park was opened by Queen Elizabeth herself in 1994 and is Cayman’s only botanical garden. The 65-acre park is dedicated to preserving local flora and fauna and is famous for its Cayman Blue Iguana programme, which is the only place in Grand Cayman where you will find these magnificent endangered creatures.

The Botanic Park is split into several areas for you to explore by yourself or you can take a guided tour which is held on Tuesday or Thursday at 2pm. Tours last approximately 2 hours.

The Heritage Garden
Showcases the plants and trees that supported early Cayman settlers. There is a medical and sand garden,  old Caymanian house and a cooking Caboose.

Woodland Trail
The trail is just under a mile long but takes you through lush natural landscape that is home to 40% of Grand Cayman’s native flora.

Lake & Wetland
Popular with birdwatchers. In cooler months the banks are a lovely spot for a picnic.

Colour Garden
A series of gardens arranged by colour, the garden is a year-round explosion of hues. Meander through the trails and end at the gazebo, a favourite for weddings and intimate brunches.

Blue Iguana Recovery Programme
Their goal is to increase the population of the endangered creatures to over 1000. You will see these gentle ‘blue dragons’ roaming the park to the delight of residents and visitors alike.
